“Every girl in this world wants to be able to eat everything she desires without getting fat.”
I’m sure you’ve already heard this sentence before, and you might also agree with it. Me too.
But since that’s not possible, we’re left with the desire to look tall and thin, even when we’re not. Of course, a healthy diet and exercise is the best way to achieve the body we want. But what about NOW? Ain’t nobody got time to wait until all our hard work pays off.
And this is because we need to get dressed every day, right? Although we’d love to sit around in our pajamas and leggings, that’s not quite an option. So in order to look great, to expose the best version of ourselves, we need to be informed, to play around and to experiment, in order to understand what works best for our body and establish our own fashion style.
We are not all supermodels or celebrities, surrounded by make-up artists, stylists and advisers, to help us look stunning. And each one of us has a different constitution, a different weight and height, and that’s fine.
However, there are some tips & tricks that we can all apply in our daily looks, and today we’re talking about those small details that can make you look taller and slimmer, with little to no effort.
1. Wear black or uni-color outfits
Go for an all-black, all-nude, all-white look, when trying to give the impression of a taller and slimmer body. Wearing black will make you visually slimmer anyway, but other colors can have the same effect if you match them wisely.
With that being said, it’s obvious that many color-block outfits can have the opposite effect, so you should be careful when picking a red-blouse-and-green-pants kind of outfit.
2. Make long boots & heels your best friends
If you want to have a great posture and look a bit taller, long boots are the best shoe choice in this season. They look amazing, and can be worn in so many different outfits. For the other seasons, pick any kind of high heels (stilettos, tall ankle boots, wedges), they have the endless legs effect, and are very stylish as well.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear sneakers, flats or loafers, but if you do, make sure that you follow the other tips from this article. What can I say, heels just make everything easier (except the walking part, ha ha).
3. Go for tall hair buns and ponytails
If you want to give the illusion of a thinner figure, make a messy hair bun on top of your head, and it will have the desired effect.
When it comes to ponytails, again, the taller the better. If you just place it in the back of your head, it won’t be noticeable, so go for the tall palm-tree that would make The Weeknd jealous 🙂
4. Use contouring in your advantage
Make your face look more defined and skinny by using the famous contouring technique. It’s a great way to enhance your features, but don’t go overboard with it! There are many awesome tutorials online on how to master this make-up skill, so give it a go. It might make a huge difference in your daily look 🙂
5. Play with layering and mix clothes of different length
A great way to look slim & tall is to play around and layer clothes of different length and style. You’ll need a few basic items in your wardrobe, such as skirts, coats, cardigans, shirts, vests and tops. So all you have to do is mix them in a creative way, according to your body type and fashion preferences. It’s easy and fun, I promise!
6. Belts and scarves can transform the look
These accessories can easily turn a random casual look into a fashion statement. Wide belts around your waist have the slimming effect you might be looking for, and it gives a new character and personality to the outfit you’re wearing.
Also, scarves can be a major element in your look. A long, voluminous scarf can be worn around your neck, as a poncho, as a skirt (!), or in many other ways. A smaller one can be worn as a belt for your trousers, as a hair tie, or it can accessorize your handbag.
