Still wondering what to wear at the Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties? Oh well, I got your back, girl!
In this post I will share the top 10 must-have items I think you should include in your holiday party outfits. Of course, it goes without saying, you probably can’t wear them all at once. The rule of thumb is usually to match either:
1. basic clothes with gorgeous, glamorous accessories (like shoes, clutches, etc.)
2. sparkling, edgy and metallic clothes with simple accessories.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear them together, but it’s better to stay on the safe side. Going for glitter from head-to-toe can easily turn into a fail, if overdone, so make sure you know how to wear it.
1. A Glitter Top
There’s nothing that says “festive” more than glitter and sequins. A gorgeous sparkling top can be just enough to bring your holiday spirit to life. And not to mention that it will become the main element of your outfit, and will not go unnoticed.
2. Leather Pants
I think that leather pants are the best choice if you want to achieve a bad-ass and sexy look, without showing too much skin. Choose a pair that suits your body type, and match them with a silk blouse or a loose backless top.
3. A Tailored Black or White Blazer
If you want to go for a classic and feminine look, the tailored blazer is a true “pièce de résistance”. White or black, it will make your waist look slim and sculpted. You can wear it with almost anything, from skinny pants to evening dresses or leather shorts.
4. A Mini Skirt
Mini skirts don’t need any introduction, they are the sexiest items from my list. They look amazing with over-the-knee boots, but also with stilettos. If you want to go all the way, pick an extravagant design, fabric or print (like leather, fringes, tartan, feathers).
5. Over-the-knee Boots
Everybody loves over-the-knee boots, and it’s not hard to understand why. A Christmas party at home can be the perfect occasion to wear them with a long fluffy sweater. Or, if you are attending a fancy event, just trade the sweater for a body-con midi dress.
6. A Silk Shirt
The silk shirt is one of the few basic pieces of clothing that can make a real statement: it’s elegant, glamorous and luxurious. So make sure you include it in your festive outfit. Any color works, but the best choices would be: rose gold, silver, white, navy or light pink.
7. A Long Sleeveless Vest
The long sleeveless vest trend is here to stay, so make sure you add it to your shopping list. You can rock it with a shirt underneath, a top, a turtleneck, even a blazer if you’re brave. Playing around with layers will help you create a fabulous look without too much effort. Bring a festive touch by wearing it with a pair of fit golden trousers and high heels.
8. A Festive Dress
But if you feel more comfortable by wearing a dress, that’s OK. Go for a special design, a bold color or a luxurious fabric (lace, chiffon, velvet).
I think you’ll agree with me on this one: high heels are a woman’s best friends. They make you look taller, slimmer and also make you feel a lot more confident. So forget about comfortable flats or ankle boots this time. Choose a glamorous pair of stilettos and you’re ready to go.
10. The embellished clutch
A clutch can definitely steal the show, if you choose something embellished and flashy. Gemstones, feather, golden chains, flower applications, crystal details, embroidered lace, you name it. Best way to wear one of these fabulous items: with a simple long black dress or a well-fitted uni-color suit.
Have fun, lovelies! And enjoy your holiday!
