So Electric Castle Festival 2016 just happened a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been waiting for this festival for a whole year, and now it’s already done. Every year it’s the same thing: you don’t even realize how fast the time goes when you’re having fun. I wasn’t able to attend the full 4 days this time, and I missed the best concert ever – Skrillex. But it was still a great experience.
This year’s line up included some pretty awesome artists, such as: Sigur Ros, Bring Me The Horizon, Gorgon City, Flux Pavilion, Camo & Krooked, Elliphant, Dirtyphonics.
We spent Friday night dancing in the rain while listening to Paul Kalkbrenner and Rusko. Our clothes were all wet, because the raincoats were not able to protect us from the heavy rain. We were kinda’ freezing, but we still had fun and enjoyed the moment. Yeah, we spent 3 hours waiting for the bus after the concert, but that’s a different story.
What can I say; the organizers did the best they could to keep us safe and entertained. We were unlucky again to catch bad weather and mud, even if the festival date changed this year. But that’s not their fault. I mean, come on, we can’t rely on the weather forecast anymore, since the climate has gone crazy in the past few years (and things aren’t getting any better).
But that’s not the point here. We had a great time, and that’s all that matters. In the last day of festival, it was sunny and warm, so we got to chance to take some pictures, walk around and enjoy the great food. I had the best chicken burger in a long time.
We also got on the Carousel and sang along with the guys from Bastille who were performing on stage at the time. If you are following me on Snapchat, you already saw my live updates.
Of course, with all that mud and craziness, you don’t care that much about fashion. People got creative and started wearing plastic bags in their boots, to avoid getting wet. Raincoats covered up all the cool clothing underneath, so our fashionable outfits were wasted anyways.
So I decided to wear basic and comfy clothes: long skinny pants, rocker boots, biker jacket and a hat. All black with a twist of white and pink. Yep, pink. Because I only own a huge sized pink raincoat, that makes me look like a real-life sugar candy.
I tried to experiment with the make-up though, so I chose a colorful and intense look. I contoured my lower lash line with blue eye shadow and used a bright matte pink on the lips. Don’t worry, I’ll soon post a tutorial for this look on my YouTube channel, so make sure to subscribe so you can get the notification when it’s live.
Once again I remembered that Electric Castle is not about the music. Yeah, we get some pretty cool headliners every year, but that’s not even the best part. The PEOPLE are the ones that keep this festival alive.
These people are able to have fun under the worst circumstances ever. They don’t care if you have a bad hair day or what you do for a living. They come and ask you weird questions, photobomb your pictures or high-five random dudes at 5 AM in the morning. There’s no such thing as a “comfort zone” at this festival, you just go with the flow.
That’s why I keep coming back each year, regardless of the line up or weather conditions. It’s all about the experience. I’m telling you, there’s something magic going on here.
Have you ever been to Electric Castle? What’s the thing that makes you come back to a festival year after year?
