Product of the week #3: Gerovital Tinted Face Sun Cream SPF 50

Hi ladies! It’s time for a new post in the “Product of the week” series 🙂

As you well know, SPF is super important, and we need to protect our skin from the sun, to avoid any early wrinkles or spots. So that’s why a face cream with UVA and UVB protection is essential, especially in the summer.

To be honest, I always underestimated the effects of sun exposure and I was like “well, it’s not that bad if I forget to use SPF before leaving the house.  It’s not like I’m going to the beach or anything”. I would apply it only once in a while, without paying too much attention.

That’s until I started to do a little research, and discovered all the awful effects that come from not using SPF (sunburns, wrinkles, dark spots, scars). Now I’m a lot more careful, and I try to keep this on my priority list: never leave the house without facial sunscreen.

So, on my hunt to find the best product for my needs, I discovered this Gerovital Tinted Face Sun Cream, with SPF 50. Gerovital is a romanian brand, and I’ve tried several skincare products from them in the past, so I decided to give it a go. And today I’m going to share with you my opinion about this face cream 🙂

What they say about it

Prevents sun intolerance, dark spots, photodermatoses and premature skin aging.  The mineral and organic filters ensure a high and balanced protection against UVA/UVB radiation.

Texture & how to apply it

I’ve been using this face cream for a couple of weeks now, and I can say it’s a pretty good product. I like the fact that it’s not too sticky, as many other sun protection creams, and it doesn’t leave a white cast. It’s supposed to be applied on top of the usual moisturizer, but that feels a bit too much for my combination skin. So I prefer to use it directly on the clean face, after washing it in the morning.

It comes in a neutral shade, that adapts to your skin color. I think it’s very similar to the Gerovital Happiness CC Cream in the shade Light, except for the fact that it has a smaller coverage.

It evens up the skin color and it makes it look more glowy. I noticed it looks very natural if you wear it on its own. If you add a little concealer on the spots and under-eye area, and then set everything in place with powder, you can get a decent daily make-up look.

I also tried to use it as a base for foundation (I’m currently testing the Catrice All Matt Plus foundation), but the results weren’t so good. At the end of the day, my face would be way too shiny and oily. I didn’t like it at all. So I guess this combo is a little too thick and heavy for the skin.

It has an intense floral scent, but as you know, that doesn’t bother me when it comes to skin products. I like the packaging, and it also has a very good price (25 RON/ 6,5 Euro). It’s labeled as a good match for all skin types.

It gets absorbed into the skin fairly quickly, so that’s a plus. Just be careful not to apply it on the eye area, because it feels itchy.

Protection

When it comes to the actual skin protection, this face cream does everything it claims. And even though it’s recommended to apply it multiple times during the day, once every few hours, I don’t really have the patience for that.

But considering the fact that I’m in the office most of the day, I suposse that’s better than nothing. And it’s efficient enough to keep me protected during the week. If I go out in weekends, to read a book in the park or just take a long walk, I apply a thicker layer and then re-apply it in the afternoon.

Other details

It has vitamin E and pomegranate extract, and it does not contain oxybenzone, octocrylene, paraffin oil or parabens.

Ingredients: Aqua, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol (nano), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Titanium Dioxide (nano), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Dimethyl Capramide, Pentylene Glycol, Isopropyl Isostearate, Decyl Glucoside, Phenoxyethanol, Bix-Ethylhexyloxyphenol, Methophenyl Triazine, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Polyacrylamide, Punica Granatum Pericarp Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, CI 77492, Parfum, Styrene/ Acrilates, Copolymer, Alumina, Dimethicone, Glycerin, C13-C14, Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Xanthan Gum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Propylene Gloycol, Glyceryl Laurate, CI 77491, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, BHA, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, CI 77499, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Citrate, alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool

Size: 50 ml

You can find it: on their official website, in all the Farmec & Gerovital stores in Romania, as well as in supermarkets and other beauty stores.

Would I buy it again? Well, it’s a good product, but I feel like it’s better suited for normal or dry skin. For me, it feels a little too heavy and greasy, and it doesn’t keep my sebum under control. I think I’m going to try and find a face cream with a gel texture, more lightweight and easier to wear as a base under my make-up.

But, if you want an affordable product to pack for the holidays, or if you don’t have any skin problems and a tinted cream is enough for you, I think you should give it a try.

Have you tried any sun protection products from Gerovital? What’s your favorite face cream with SPF?
