Black & white outfits are a quick and easy way to look stylish without putting too much effort into your look. But they can also look boring sometimes and go unnoticed.

So today I want to share with you some ideas on how to make any monochrome outfit a lot more interesting and fashionable.

1. Wear clothes with interesting cuts and styles

If you wear a white top and black pants, you will get a simple basic outfit. But if you add some spice (such as prints, geometry, stripes, asymmetric shapes), you can get to a whole new level. Think about asymmetric tops, flared pants, culottes, fringed jackets, etc.

2. Focus on one color only

I know it’s black AND white, so you will insert both colors in your look, but try to pick a dominant side (either black, like I did in this outfit, either white). This will balance the look and make it a bit more stylish and chic.

3. Add a twist

To add a new color in your monochrome ensemble might seem counter-intuitive, but I think it’s very cool. Make it subtle, but still noticeable. For me, the nude color of the cardigan is the perfect example of a simple, yet effective twist. Grey, khaki or navy will have a similar impact.

4. Make sure you accessorize it right

If you want to pull off a minimalist clean look, pick some delicate jewelry and a fancy bag and you’re done. If you prefer something more glamorous, go for a statement necklace in a bright color, and this will make a big difference overall.

However, if you already did some layering and picked different prints & styles for your look, you might want to forget about accessories, to keep a neat appearance. Just grab a hat or a scarf, and that should be enough.
