Product of the week #3: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Hi lovelies! It’s time for a new mini-review in the Product of the week series.

Today we’re talking about the Real Techniques expert face brush. This has been on my wishlist ever since I first started watching YouTube videos, because everybody seemed to love it. And I was convinced it must be the best brush for applying foundation EVER.

Well, besides that, I also own several other Real Techniques brushes, and I’ve been super happy with them, so that’s another reason why I really wanted to buy the expert brush.

Product description & price

Soo, first things first. I got it from makeup-shop.ro, but you can also find it on the Real Techniques official website, in Ulta, Boots and many other drugstores. It costs 43 RON on makeupshop.ro (so about 9 euros).

It was pretty hard to catch on stock, because it was always sold out and I couldn’t get my hands on it. Buut, eventually it arrived and I was super excited to open it and see… it was much smaller than I thought 😂 Don’t worry, it’s not super small, just a lot smaller than I imagined!

It’s perfect for cream, mousse and liquid foundations, and it doesn’t swallow up too much product. And it helps you get an airbrushed effect, for a smooth and flawless skin.

How does the Expert Face Brush work?

It’s super dense and firm, to give you precision and high-coverage, and that was actually the selling point for me. With a beauty blender, you can get a super natural and fresh look, but you need to use more product to get high-coverage.

But this brush only needs a drop of foundation to give you a flawless look, cover up any imperfections and even up the skin color. I can’t get that kind of coverage with my fingers or a sponge, no matter how hard I try! 😂 It seriously takes your look to a whole new level, to get an Instagram perfect face (without any filters).

With that being said, it’s important to keep in mind that it can give you a cakey look if you don’t blend it well enough. To get the best results, I buff the foundation really well into the skin with the Expert brush, and then I use the beauty blender to give it a more natural aspect. That way, I can avoid any streaky lines.

I’ve washed it several times so far, and it didn’t lose any bristles. It’s easy to clean, dries out quickly, and it’s super soft on the skin. And I’m pretty sure that even though it’s supposed to be used for foundation, you can use it for several different powder and liquid products (contour, blush, etc). And because it’s so small, I also use it for concealer sometimes.

Overall, I would say it’s a great brush & I would definitely recommend it if you want high-coverage and a flawless look for a special event or, why not, for everyday use. You do you, girl 😃

However, if you prefer a natural “no make-up” make-up look, I think it’s better to stick to a beauty blender.

What do you think about this brush, have your tried it? And what are your favorite Real Techniques brushes?
