Having a good concealer in your make-up bag is more than essential, I am sure you can agree with that.
So today I want to show you a great drugstore concealer from Rimmel London. I am not very pretentious when it comes to this make-up item, since I don’t always have pronounced under-eye circles. However, I do want a decent coverage and a good formula, that will brighten up the under-eye area and make my skin glow.
After a few hours of sleep, when I am tired and exhausted, I just want to grab my magic wand and cover up the dark circles. So what I like about the Wake Me Up concealer is that it actually delivers the “anti-fatigue effect” promised.
It’s a great because:
It has a creamy liquid formula, it’s super easy to use and apply, and it has a nice coverage. Also, the 001 Ivory shade seems to be a great match for my skin. It’s one or two shades lighter than my foundation, and it blends in easily, so it doesn’t look like I got tanned with my sunglasses on – if you know what I mean.
Besides the under-eye area, I usually apply the product on the bridge of the nose, on the chin and middle of the forehead (so basically on the T-zone), to make sure I cover up any redness and brighten up the skin.
It looks super natural and fresh, doesn’t get cakey, has a great consistence, and you only need a small amount of product to get a nice coverage. Also, it has subtle sparkles, but nothing too extreme, just a little extra to give your skin a radiant glow and highlight.
I like it more than other concealers I’ve tried so far. I had some not-so-good experiences in the past with concealers from Alverde and Avon, which had little to no coverage at all, so this is much better.
However, if extreme coverage is what you’re looking for, maybe this won’t be enough. MAC, NARS or other high-end brand have some concealers with super high-coverage, so maybe you should invest in one of them. But if you’re looking for a great product for daily use, at a decent price, you have nothing to lose if you decide to try the Rimmel London Wake Me Up concealer.
What could be improved:
It’s not so great for covering pimples or blemishes. If you have skin problems like acne, you need to either insist on the problematic areas and apply more product, either use a special corrector stick – which is what I would recommend.
Also, it does crease a bit on my face. I usually set it with a light layer of powder (I try not to use too much, so I won’t dry out the whole area), but it will still crease eventually. It’s not very noticeable and it only happens after a few hours, but it’s still something that must be mentioned.
Another thing: I love the subtle sparkling shine effect, it actually enhances the glow of the skin and makes it look a lot more fresh, but not everybody feels the same about this. So if you want a matte finish, you should probably look for another product.
Also, I noticed it blends a lot better if I apply it either with my fingers, either with a beauty-blender (or a dupe, doesn’t have to be the original one). I tried to apply it with a concealer brush from Ebelin, and it didn’t blend so well. Maybe it was the brush? I don’t know, but I definitely prefer the beauty blender method.
Would I buy it again? Probably YES. All in all, the price is great, it has a pretty good quality, and you have 4 options to pick from (Ivory, True Ivory, Classic Beige, Soft Beige).
I paid 30 RON for it, from DM Drogerie-Markt, but you can also find it online, in Boots, Ulta or any other stores (and even hypermarkets).
Also, I bought it in November, and it still hasn’t dried out, it has the same consistency. And although I’ve been using it very often, I think I still have enough product to last me for another month.
Have you tried this concealer before, how did it work for you? Or what is your favorite concealer at the moment?

I love using this as a highlighting kind of concealer, it feels so lightweight on my skin x

That’s awesome, I’m glad to know that you also love this product <3 And I agree, it's great for highlighting, it instantly makes your skin glowy and bright. Kisses
This doesn’t sound like a bad concealer but I think for me it wouldn’t be the right fit, I tend to like concealers with much more coverage to cover spots and scars. Wish I could use something lighter though!

Hey, thanks for the comment 🙂 If you need high coverage, indeed this probably is not a good fit. It doesn’t really cover up spots or pimples, so I think it wouldn’t work with scars either. But it’s great for the under-eye area 🙂
What is your favorite concealer though? I’d love to know. Kisses
Eu folosesc acum cel de la essence, stay all day si chiar ti-l recomand.
Kisses
